China Reiterates Opposition to Iran Sanctions… Again

By Jason Ditz, April 13, 2010

The eternal push for additional sanctions against Iran never changes too much.

Earlier today, President Barack Obama declared that he was “confident” China would back the sanctions, a confidence expressed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton several times over the past few weeks.

But as has happened every other time this confidence was expressed, China was quick to dismiss the idea and reiterate its opposition to sanctions.

China always believes that dialogue and negotiation are the best way out for the issue. Pressure and sanctions cannot fundamentally solve it,” insisted China’s Foreign Ministry.

Despite this opposition, the US is still hoping to push forward sanctions against Iran in the next few weeks to punish it over its refusal to accept a third party enrichment deal. Iran has actually agreed to that deal in principle, and reiterated their support again today.

Iran’s willingness to accept a deal and its repeated calls for dialogue do not appear to be stopping the US push for sanctions, ostensibly to punish it for not accepting a deal and not accepting dialogue. This is perhaps unsurprising, however, as the fact that the IAEA has repeatedly confirmed that Iran is not enriching uranium to anywhere near weapons grade and is not diverting it to any non-civilian use has likewise done little to dissuade the US from sanctions on the completely false basis of Iran enriching uranium for military purposes.

  1. Warmongering has become the strongest part of the United States of Israel. It is time to take this country back the way it should be ”By the people, for the people.”

  2. There will be no attack or serious sanctions on Iran.

Obama and other politicians feel the need to issue statements that placate zio maniacs in their delusional blood lust, probably to keep the money flowing.

    • Well said. The United States of Israel, eh?. Mr. Benhamid, such a statement should drive real, loyal Americans wild with anger but with the current level of apathy, the public do not even know or seem to care what is happening to their country. Football scores, yes, mortgage interest rates, yes, but the peaceful takeover of the largest and most powerful country in the world, couldn’t happen! Full stop!
No? It is happening, every day in every way.

    • Joe, I sincerely trust you are right. The tiresome and malicious attacks on Iran with no bombs, a signature on the bottom of the NPT compared to Israel with 250-300 bombs, and no signature on anything makes hypocrisy seem the order of the day for Obama and his clutch of Zionists.
Agitate, Joe, for a loyalty vote for members of Congress and clean out the nest of disloyal AIPACkers suggesting that the AIPACkers become backpackers on a trip to Tel Aviv, never to return.

  3. This time around, America can keep up to date on the kids you’ll be starving to death. You got to kill over 500,000 Iraqi infants alone for no reason other than some made up garbage about Saddam and his imaginary WMD’s that to this day America as a whole feels is more above the law than Hitler’s Nazi regime.

It all makes you wonder more often just how far the American Empire plans to go into the blood book,(PNAC) a dictators pyscho wet dream of controlling nations where the final chapters merge all. Good and bad.

MERICANS SHOOTING KIDS WITH HIGH POWERED WEAPONS THAT COULD CUT A ELEPHANT IN HALF FROM INSIDE HELICOPTERS IS BAD ENOUGH, BUT BLAMING TH KIDS FOR YOU PULLING THE TRIGGER WOULD SCARE HITLER.

  4. ….”the IAEA has repeatedly confirmed that Iran is not enriching uranium”
Well done, China. We all know your reasons are based on fuel supplies but the US has to realise that not everyone is prepared to roll over to satisfy the Israeli-dominated US, once the largest and respected nation in the world.
The way it is manipulated by the evil, illegal, apartheid, US-hating empire is a culmination of years or devious, disloyal dealings on the mainland of USA and dragging with them 75% of the corrupt Congress.
What a country. How the mighty have fallen.
