Indian envoy ‘frisked’ at US airport

India is to file a diplomatic complaint with the US after its ambassador to Washington was singled out and frisked at a US airport.
The incident took place on December 4 at the Jackson-Evers International Airport when the Indian envoy to the United States, Meera Shankar, was about to board a flight to Baltimore after attending an event at Mississippi State University.
The Indian Embassy in Washington has strongly protested the incident.
Shankar was pulled out of the security line and frisked at the airport. She was subjected to a hands-on search despite staff being told about her diplomatic status, Press Trust of India news agency quoted an Indian Embassy official as saying.
“This is unacceptable to India and we are going to take it up with the US government and I hope things could be resolved so that such unpleasant incidents do not recur,” India’s Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna told reporters in New Delhi.
The incident has also embarrassed the university officials who invited Shankar to give a speech for an international studies program.
“It was a wonderful program, maybe the best we’ve had, (but) this stupid incident ruined the whole thing. She said, ‘I will never come back here,'” said Janos Radvanyi, chair of Mississippi State University’s international studies department.
“We are sending her a letter of apology.”
A US Transportation Security Administration spokesman said, “Diplomats are not exempt from the searches and that Shankar was screened in accordance with TSA’s security policies and procedures.”
Shankar suffered a similar experience in September when she was patted by a security officer at a Chicago airport, AFP reported.
US immigration authorities in the O’Hare Airport in Chicago questioned the visiting Indian Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel in September after his name and birth date matched with that of another Praful Patel, who is on the United States watch list.

Israel’s military indoctrination of children

The modern roots of Zionism go back to its founding at the First Zionist Congress in Basle, Switzerland, in 1897, its programme being the “establishing for the Jewish people of a publicly and legally assured home in Eretz Yisrael”. Five decades later, this was accomplished by dispossessing indigenous Palestinians, denying them the right to their land, creating a new Jewish identity, legitimising Jews as rightful owners, and using superior military force to support the state against defenceless civilians who were no match against their powerful adversary.
Leading up to and after its war of independence, Israel stayed politically and militarily hard line, negotiating from strength, choosing confrontation over diplomacy, and naked aggression as a form of self- defence and occupation in order to seize as much of historic Palestine as possible and secure an ethnically pure Jewish state. These policies were called “Israelification [and] De-Arabisation” to preserve a “Jewish character”.
In his book, The Making of Israeli Militarism, author Uri Ben-Eliezer says writing about Israeli militarism involves “ventur(ing) into an intellectual minefield”, given Jewish history under the Nazis and the perception of Israel as a safe haven. Yet, decades of Arab- Israeli conflict have produced seven full-scale wars, two Intifadas, and many hundreds of violent incidents.
Ben-Eliezer believes that, beginning in the 1930s, militarism “was gradually legitimized within the Yishuv, the Jewish community in Palestine, then within the new state [it was] crystallized into a value, a formula, and an ideology.” Over time, it acquired a dynamic of its own, and then, during the 1948 war, it “acquired full legitimacy” and became decisive in setting policy.
Politics and militarism were wedded to create a militaristic view of reality. Thereafter, it was institutionalised to the point that “the idea of implementing a military solution to [political problems] was not only enshrined as a value in its own right, but was also considered legitimate, desirable, and indeed the best option.” … continue

What kind of pervert would take a TSA job? Can you imagine being at a bar and someone asks “what do you do?” and the person says TSA frisker, when suddenly everyone moves away in disgust. Those people must be VERY desperate to take those jobs.
